Virtual camps: helping families balance work and home life in uncertain times

- Spain’s first virtual camp portal launches to help families balance work and home life.
- CampamentoVirtual.com aims to “entertain and engage children with fun activities from the comfort and safety of home”.
- We’re bringing the traditional camp experience into the digital age.
- More than 4 million children in Spain attend camp each summer.
The creators of BuscoCampamentos.com have developed CampamentoVirtual.com. This new project aims to entertain and educate children with fun, engaging activities from the safety and comfort of home. Sessions take place over group video calls (maximum 10 participants), supervised by an instructor throughout the summer (from mid-June until the start of the school year), with flexible morning or afternoon schedules.
Andrés Bayona, founder of BuscoCampamentos.com, explains how the project came about. In other countries, such as the United States and Canada, many companies are turning to virtual camps, making this an international trend.
With this project, we hope to help families balance work and home life while educating and entertaining children. Children have taught Spanish society a lesson through their behaviour during lockdown. That’s why they deserve a virtual camp where they can socialise with peers who share their interests, all from the safety and comfort of home.
In the first phase, we designed and developed 3 different programmes: Princess Academy, Superhero Academy and Hogwarts Academy. We’re already working on new educational programmes. Online education is here to stay.
Please note: virtual camps complement day camps and overnight summer camps. They are not intended to replace them.
